Husband and Wife share the same email address. Now Geni thinks that both records should be merged into one record. What do I do?

I sent out an invitation to the husband but didn't realize the email address was attached to the wife's record and the wife is part of another tree which I wanted to merge into.  Now Geni thinks the husband and wife profiles should be merged.  I tried merging them and then recreating the husband but that didn't work.  How do I fix this?   Thank you.
