Through a merge, I have added family members twice, so now it looks like one of my grandfathers married both of his wives twice. How do I delete these people? Any help, please. Thanks!

Eldon Clark (Geni volunteer curator) Catherine Mary Dorkin, Don't try to delete them you can merge any duplicate profiles you have created. Go to your tree and look for yellow triangles and also for blue dots. Click on them and it is not harde to figure out what to do.

Deborah New I have duplicate entries that I am trying to delete and it won't let me delete or merge. I need to move them to my grandmother's mother's side and/or delete them on my grandfather's side and I'm having no luck. Please help.

Jeff, Geni Curator Hey Deborah, I went to your tree to help, but it looks pretty bludgeoned with deleted names, genders, etc. I'll try to restore some of the data and fix it as I can best determine. I may need you to clarify some relationships.

Deborah New I'm not sure what has happened to my tree, how did all those names get on my tree? I don't recognize most of them. Who are these folks that are going in and changing and adding people to my tree? I'm so confused? I can't even see my full tree anymore there are so many names. What has happened. I need help. Thanks

Jeff, Geni Curator Deborah, it sounds like you may be unfamiliar with what Geni is. It's a collaborative shared family tree website, where your branch connects with other branches of users with the same ancestry. You maintain privacy within your family group, but you're connected into a larger shared tree. That way you're not duplicating work and research on ancestors is collaborative (with lines sharing DNA validation). It also allows you to see how you're connected to others on the world tree via your existing relationships, for example, Kevin Bacon is currently your 17th cousin. Here is more information: https://www.geni.com/worldfamilytree/learn-more
So in this case, your Hamlin line started to duplicate profiles that already existed on Geni, so these two branches were combined (merged), expanding both. Descendants of this line share the common ancestry. If you're having difficulty with navigation, you may want to reduce the number of Ancestors or Descendants you're viewing in the tree. This is done at the bottom of the tree under Preferences.
If you're looking for a private tree where you're in full control, then Geni is not the place and I suggest our parent company http://www.myheritage.com.
