Although my setting are all for private viewing only, when googled, my profile info comes up. Why is that? I would like private to be private.

Eldon Clark (Geni volunteer curator) Shia Altman There is a setting for this in your account settings. Your profile on Geni itself is only viewable by family members, Geni staff and curators.

Shia Altman Thank you for the reply. All settings are set to private, and I still see part of my profile when I google my name Shia Altman, and not when I am logged in. Here is the link: http://www.geni.com/people/Shia-Altman/6000000001124796024. Am I missing something here? I would not like any part of the profile to show. This information shows:
Immediate Family:Shia Altman
Son of Leopold Altman and Regina Altman
Brother of Fay Shapiro and Private User -
Eldon Clark (Geni volunteer curator) Account, settings, permissions, uncheck "Let the public search for me"

Shia Altman Thanks Eldon for getting back. I did that - Account, settings, permissions, uncheck "Let the public search for me"
Does it take ahwile to kick in? When googling Shia Altman again, information showed:

Immediate Family:Son of Leopold Altman and Regina Altman
Brother of Fay Shapiro and Private User -
Eldon Clark (Geni volunteer curator) Google caches everything and that is what your are seeing. It is not your Geni settings.
With your privacy settings as tight as they are,I am curious why you are on Geni which relies on collaboration.

Shia Altman I hear you, Eldon, and thanks again for your response, but I am on many sites where privacy is privacy, and I don't see anything on Google from within those sites, collaboration or not. And my collaboration is with my family on Geni, not with just anyone who searches me. And by the way, if you again look at what was shown, you see, "Private User." Seems that can be done where a name is not shown. Anyway, if Geni cannot prevent private from being public even when unchecking the "Let the public search for me" box, it is something to think about.

Geni Support Team Hi Shia,
Please know that we do not control if or when Google may index our search results, so your results may continue to appear in Google search results after they have been removed from ours. They should disappear from Google results next time Google indexes our search results. (http://help.geni.com/entries/471127-How-do-I-control-what-is-listed-publicly-)
We have submitted a manual request to Google to remove the link from their results, but we do not know when it will be completed.
