Membership levels and functionality

So I'm new to Geni and trying to decide whether to stay or not. I have started a small tree. I have alerts for smart matches from MyHeritage. I realize that to use those, contrary to conflicting undeleted threads in the help section, that these are not free and require the MyHeritage data account. Once I have that I can automagically add matches from MyHeritage to my Geni tree. I would use this to import people from my MyHeritage tree by confirming the match. Am I understanding this correctly? I should also see matches within Geni as well.

I do not see the matches. I have a tree in MyHeritage and I've added a few of us into Geni but I don't get the smart match. In fact I get a match on myself and one other person. But they aren't from my tree on MyHeritage!! I have also added a person that I know is in the Geni world tree, but it doesn't show as a duplicate either.

To use the search and be able to click on the provided results I need the Geni Pro account. But I can't get the search box at the top of the web page to work at all. Only the one under Research works. Any idea why? It does work on my Android tablet. But not in my Windows 7 Internet Explorer or Chrome.

So now I assume that I need Geni Pro to functionally search within Geni, I've just been using Google so I can actually click the results and get to them (silly move on Geni's part), as well as the MyHeritage data subscription to be able to use the site at all.

But from what I see neither of the matches seem to work anyway. Can someone help with this before I move on? The membership prices are simply too high for a mildly referenced database anyway, let alone of it doesn't work as promised.

Thanks for any help.
