Hello. I want to create a separate paternal tree and a separate maternal tree under my Basic Account. is this possible? Thanks.

Jeff, Geni Curator Technically possible, yes (and the basic account would not be a problem though you will need help with the initial disconnect). Advisable, desired - not really. The primary goal of Geni is a single shared world tree, so interconnectivity is what we're building. What are you trying to accomplish, if I may ask? Why create separate trees?

Catherine Mary Dorkin-Kuseta I am not the original poster, but I would like to have seperate trees too so that I do not get them confused! And because the trees are getting so large, I would like them to be seperate to be able to focus on one side at a time.

Jeff, Geni Curator Not sure how a single tree (working each branch as desired) is more confusing than two separate trees. Often families will have pedigree collapse and merging those into a single branch will be more difficult. There is also no guarantee that the branches won't be merged where they overlap - in fact, that is the goal and encouraged (and can be done without permission). So, I'd highly recommend against creating a separate tree unless it is unconnected to your existing tree. It's not what Geni is about and you may be disappointed if it doesn't stay that way. Our parent site, MyHeritage, is a better place for individual private trees. But there are two ways to do it on Geni. 1) Create a new account with a different email address. 2) Create a profile off of your existing tree and disconnect it ("split the tree") - may be hard to find it afterward and requires a pro membership or curator to do it.

Frank Johan Van Den Block Jeff, let's say I worked on my tree and got as far as the year 1550.
Now, in some old church registers I have found mention of persons with the same surname as me, who may (or may not) be related to me, dating from the year 1430.
I would like to create the tree of those persons (using the information from the church registery) and over the next months investigate whether they are related to me or not.
The two options you give here above unfortunately do not work :
1) i cannot create a new account because Geni tells me a birth day of 1430 is too old2) There is no connection, so I cannot "split the tree".
The third option (registering with MyHeritage unfortunately is also not an option, since they also tell me person I am trying to start a tree from, is too old (1430).
Any thoughts?
Thank you
