For example, I entered my brother into Geni. A 3rd cousin entered him into Geni. Somehow when it was merged the cousin is the manager and I can't modify much on his profile. The same situation happened with my wife. Someone entered her into Geni before I knew Geni existed and even though the trees merged, I was not added as a manager.

Jeff, Geni Curator Keith, you can't edit your brother's profile because it's claimed. He is his own manager and by default, family members can't edit a profile once the person becomes a member. Likewise, other family members can't edit your profile - only you can. You, and your brother, can change this in your settings: https://www.geni.com/account_settings/permissions "Let my family edit my profile". Other private non-member profiles or public profiles in your family group should not be an issue for you to edit. If you have any additional questions or need clarification, I'll be happy to discuss.

Jeff, Geni Curator Same situation with your wife, her profile is claimed. It's been a while since they logged in, but they are members and thus in control of their profile.
