change birth order

I have previously been able to change the birth order where I have found mistakes, but on one occasion I have not been able to as the 'change birth order' box does not appear. Why cant I find it?

  Perhaps the profile is claimed (another Geni user) which you do not have the permission to edit.  Try changing the birth order on one of the siblings.

  you may be right, but I can change all the other onfo on the page like date of birth etc.     Is that normal that i can edit everything else except the birth order? I thought you could either edit everything or none at all

  Ya, it should give you the option if you can edit the other fields.  What profile is it - I'll take a look.

  John Frederick Hancock jr  1884- 1963.  There also seems to  be duplication of some of his siblings. I am in contact with his grandaughter who is an 8th cousin and who is just getting into Geni.

  just looked you up.  your'e my ninth cousin 4 times removed, though where youv'e been removed to beats me !!

  Not sure why you were not able to set the birth order.  It might be that it requires a collaboration with a manager because it's not recorded in the revision history.  I went ahead and set it and merged the duplicate siblings.

  Hi Jeff,

  I guess the problem is due to the conflict siblings which had prevented that changes.Due to the conflict, its hard to determine the correct birth order. The original children if it's own set of birth order, while the conflicted children have it's own set.

  I'm facing a similar situation with adoption birth order. There is a conflict of birth order between biological children and adopted children. And this conflict will never 'merge' as it is meant to be separated.

  This might be why you are able to change the birth order for that profile while also merged those conflicts.
