I see that some individuals in my family tree are marked as private while other are not. My brother is private but my wife is not. How can I change the privacy settings of an individual (other than myself) to private?

Jeff, Geni Curator You have three types of profiles.
1) Living profiles (non-members) - these profiles are private and can not be changed to public
2) Living profiles (Geni members) - these profiles (like your wife) are managed by the account holder. Only they can set their privacy settings in http://www.geni.com/account_settings/profile_privacy & http://www.geni.com/account_settings/permissions ("Let the public search for me")
3) Deceased profiles - these profiles default to public but can be set to private by editing the profile, but you'll want to limit this to those profiles where you're actually protecting their privacy and that of their family, such as recently deceased family members. For example, don't set profiles born in 1840 to private as you're not protecting their privacy and it creates problems in the shared world tree.
