How do I start a new tree on geni which -- as far as I know --is not connected to my existing tree?

  How do I start a new tree on GENI?  For my best friend who is not related to me in any way.

  Eliz, this is how Geni is designed - it's a shared collaborative tree.  If you created a new one, it would be merged back into the one you left as we merge duplicates.  Geni is about a single profile for each person, interconnecting various branches, creating the world tree.  https://www.geni.com/worldfamilytree/learn-more
