How can I enter date of death for person who is in my family tree but has claimed their profile?

A person in my family tree has died but their profile does not contain an entry field for indicating deceased. This person had previously been given access to the family tree and I am wondering if this has caused the problem. I am therefore not able to keep the tree up to date. Can you help?
