When in the tree view and I add a new person (say a husband or son or whatever), can I stop it then re-opening that in a new tab?

My issue is that I have my place in the tree and I need to add a husbands (or sons or whatever's) name into the tree.  I do so, then geni opens up a new 'tab' beside the one I was working on.

Is there a way to stop this as when I return back to the original tab I have lost my place as to where I was updating.

  Take a look at the "Preferences" at the bottom of the tree.  Make sure the option "Open profiles in new window" is unchecked.

  Thanks for that, tried that and it still opens it in a new tab :(
