I want my family tree view simplified. I am only interested in my direct line of lineage, i.e. grandparents, not their siblings and their spouses. Other users have added that information which makes my tree extremely difficult to view. How can I sever the unwanted relations and prevent future additions.

Jeff, Geni Curator Gary, you absolutely do not want to sever any valid relationships. Geni is a shared tree and such actions would be considered vandalism and result in your permissions being revoked. -
Jeff, Geni Curator Sorry, didn't mean to send that yet - fat fingers clicked save. The solution is easy. There are two ways to see the limited view you seek. At the bottom is a button for 5 generation view which only shows direct ancestors. Alternatively you can open the preferences at the bottom of the screen for the tree and check the box to only show direct ancestors.
