The problem arises when one has uploaded dozens and dozens of documents but has not edited them to match the, up or link them or correct them with specific people or events. If one uploads first with the intent of doing this later, it is a NIGHTMARE. I have almost 200 documents and trust me it was very painful.
Here are the suggestions:
1. Under "Research Documents when attempting to display a list of documents using "Documents you follow", there is no way to display documents that have the NULL value for the "Collection" field. This makes it impossible to return easily to documents that you haven't finished editing. (see also 6 below). When the user chooses NULL you return ALL the documents rather than the ones the user has left this field without a choice.
2. Under "edit document details" It would be fantastic if you could allow at least a few user-defined "collections" or add in Social Security, Ship Manifest and /or other common "collection" document types.
3. In ADD SOURCES, when adding facts/sources to a document, it would be better if one could view the document EXPANDED at the same time in another window. I think this is how it used to work or maybe it still does but the UI is not clear.
4. In "Edit document details" in the "event field" there should be an easier automatic way for each profile to have the proper census "event" for a particular census. I shouldn't have to go to EVERY profile that is in a census and add "1910 Census".
5. We need a way to determine ALL the documents that are PUBLIC. Is seems like the default everywhere is PUBLIC but beginners are not always aware of this. It would be very handy to be able to select a range of documents and make them all PRIVATE or PUBLIC without having to visit each one separately.
6. I had to use the FOLLOW and UPLOAD sorting ability as a check marker to determine which documents I had left to correct and edit rather than go through all 197 of my documents. To do this I marked each document UNFOLLOW after completion of my edits so I could track which ones I needed to still do. Having some other method like a check mark to return or an unfinished flag would be very helpful for doing this and still allow one to FOLLOW documents and not mess that up.
