I'd like to be able to turn off the default action of following new profiles I have added.
I'm using the follow feature to bookmark profiles, and every time I add a bunch of profiles I swamp my 'bookmarks' with profiles I don't need to follow.
Alternatively, since following determines what appears in your recent activity feed, perhaps a different mechanism should be available for bookmarking friends and interesting profiles. Most generic would be to have a user definable set of profile lists, each of which could be configured to show in the recent activity feed or not. (This could also be tied in to other permissions, ie allowing close friends to view, but not edit, your private profiles).
Then users could set up separate lists for friends, working set, following or however they want to work, with an 'add to list' button on profiles instead of a follow button.
