Not sure if this is of interest to anyone else, but sometimes the records (in my case Chinese) only have the names of the males. If it happens that there is a long lineage of single children, the tree in the current mode is diagonal. See, for instance, Confucius' tree.
In other words, it might be of interest to many to have a tree mode only showing those family members sharing the same last name. Perhaps when hovering over a male in the tree, a pink box comes out that let you jump over to her tree. Sorry about being sexist.
