Since request #13984 opened I’d unsuccessfully tried to merge a few people whose profiles written in Hebrew in my tree and in English in others. I understand your system can’t recognize a name written in Hebrew letters as a same person in another tree written in English. However, all my effort to bypass this limit had failed.
For example please have a look in the attached link to a merge issue which can’t be solved although a few Geni users in different family trees approved. I don’t see any other reason why this merge is not approved accept for the language issue. This is just an example; I have more similar issues but you don’t want me to send them all to you, do you?
Do you have a solution?
Can I suggest you add an option to the merge dialog box asking the user to indicate whether these profiles are of a same person though written in different languages? In these cases the system will accept merges with no further delays.
Please let me know what you think. I’ll be glad to help you in solving this issue (giving feedback to the development team, as a beta-site user’ etc.).
Many thanks,
