Most hispanic cultures use two last names, quite differently from the US structure evident throughout the site:
* Dual birth last names: Babies gets two last names, first the father's, then the mother's; only the first (dad's) lats name gets passed on. Thus, my grandfather's last name was "Hernandez Rodriguez" and my grandmother's "Murillo Herrera", thus my dad is "Hernandez Murillo". My mother being "Hernandez Bravo", I am "Hernandez Hernandez" (no, no relation; about 20% of mexicans have "Hernandez" as either last name).
* Husband's last name as second last name: Upon marriage, women usually drop their maternal last name and take on the husband's as their second last name, joined with a "de" (short for "Señora de"). Thus, my mother for example went from "Hernandez Bravo" to "Hernandez de Hernandez".
