Please offer, in addition to male or female, an "other" option for transgender relatives.

Vincent De Munck My father and mother's profile are mixed up, so my deceased father is married to his brother which is quite impossible!!
how to solve this without having to buy the Pro Geni?

Rick Pavek I agree. There should be options to switch gender and name so that one person could show both styles of information Many transsexuals have court ordered name and gender change. If there is a letter from the surgeon verifying the change, federal agencies make the switch, too -
Bjørn P. Brox May be you should take a closer look under edit profile when it comes to gender value?

Maven B. Helms Sorry, Bjørn, but "unknown" doesn't cut it for transpeople. Their gender IS known - it's just not the one they were born with. Some are content with listing only their current gender - others, and some relatives, want the full story.
At present they're limited to the same crude workarounds as adoptive relatives, such as creating a false profile and attaching it as "spouse" or "partner". (This gets insanely complicated when real partners/spouses are also involved.)
Yes, there's always the "About" section - but that doesn't show on the tree.

Bjørn P. Brox And how would you display transpeople in the tree?
Isn't it like name changes during life, - which name should be displayed?
You have to decide for one name since a tree is not a snaphot of a specific time but shows the lifespan for all people displayed in the tree. -
Theresa Louise Ramsdell I would like a gender option of "Other" for my transgender child as well.

Brian William Pletcher I would like the checkbox for "other" to bring up a text box that allows the editor to define it.
