Don't send emails to ex-husbands / ex-wives about current partners birthdays!
I think you could include this as a privacy option.

Roxanna Lois Running I still haven't found a way to tell Geni that I don't need or want to know about my ex-husband's sister's ex-husband's mother's birthday, etc. When is this going to be available? Geni is a convenient way to remember birthdays and anniversaries but I get so many emails I don't care about or even WANT to know about in many cases. For instance, I don't need a reminder about when my ex-husband's son has a birthday.

Bjørn P. Brox Check if you are following the profiles - that is a: you asked for it, - you got it, situation.- You find a button for that in the upper right corner of the profiles - profiles you have added is automatically followed.
A more drastic action is while visiting the profiles to use the Actions menu to remove them from family group.

Roxanna Lois Running Thanks for the advice Bjorn, but I've already checked and these are people who should not be considered part of my family group based on how it is set up. Additionally, I've gone to a couple of the profiles and my option is to add them, not remove them. So I think something is mixed up with the notifications about birthdays and anniversaries making those continue to come through.
