It would be kinda neat to be able to search against "any profile in project XYZ". That is, to answer the questions:
-- am I related to any of the Alamo Defenders?
-- to which am I most closely related?
-- who on the Hollywood Walk of Fame am I most closely related?
I agree. Searching project profiles would be great.
Do not confuse this with another feature request, which is to search to FIND a particular profile within a project! This is to FIND A CONNECTION to one or more profiles within a project.
Just as you now can go to another profile (Pro feature) and find/view your path of relationships between two profiles, this would be to find paths (plural) between you and the profiles in the project.
Perhaps it could be like the "Relatives" list, which shows your relationship to relatives in your family ... except that instead of the list of members of your "Family Group" it would be the list of "Profiles in Project XYZ". Sorted by the shortest path first. Perhaps only showing those WITH a found path.
HistoryLink's "History Seach" can do this in part. History Seach will give you all direct ancestors and great oncles/aunts up to 18 generations:
