Certainty rating and node transparency

Problem:  I would like to visually and quickly indicate to other family members and tree viewers (and to myself) that certain profiles -- often, old ones -- are less certain.  It may be that I'm reconstructing an extensive tree from  tabular data, or that there is only scant data, but I would like to add entries to get started.   Sometimes a tree is a work-in-progress and entries are provisional. Sometimes an entry is an educated guess, or has a reasonable probability of being the case.  It is also the case that there is a range of subjective certainty.

For example: I am absolutely certain who one of my great grandfathers is.  We have photos and records etc.  However, his father we only know from a statement on a ship manifest.  I would like to indicate visually that we are 100% certain of great grandfather and about say, 60% sure of great great grandfather.

Proposal:

In the profile section, have a certainty rating from 1 to 5, which defaults to 5 (most certain).

In the tree, set the transparency of each node based on the certainty in the profile.  So a certainty of 4 would have 80% opacity, 1 would have 20% opacity.  I'm pretty sure Flash has the ability to set transparency for layered objects.  I think this would be a beautiful and economical way of conveying the certainty of profiles.
