Bjørn P. Brox You have to mark her profile of her as deceased - just edit the profile.

Minette Capper Could Geni please add a field for widow or widower. I see quite a few people have asked for this. I am trying to do my tree properly, and have great grandparent who's spouse died, and he got married again. The only options are ex-wife (divorced) or ex-husband (divorced), and ex-partner. They had never divorced. The wife died and he remarried.
Please note: I DO NOT wish to put "divorced", as this makes the record inacurate. This is not a difficult request. Please add this asap.

Bjørn P. Brox I don't understand the request.
It is not a question about an individual setting, - being a widow/widower require that a spouse is involved, and if this person is alive and the other deceased the person alive will automatically be named as a widow/widower if they are marked as married.
So, I need an example. -
Minette Capper This is the profile in question. https://www.geni.com/people/Wilhelm-Plumm/6000000094943106892?through=6000000006231001573
As you can see, it states that he is the ex-husband of Anna Plum (Krumm), but they NEVER divorced. She died while they were marrief, and is marked as deceased, but there is no way on Geni of changing the status to widowed. This makes it false information.

Frode Evensen No, setting Anna as ex-wife is wrong, she should be registered as only wife. Geni will then show them as married until she passed away.
Registering as ex-wife means they were divorced. Registered as wife 1 and wife 2 means they did not split up, and that he is a widower of the first wife.

Bjørn P. Brox Frode is correct, - if they were married when she died she is definitely not an ex wife, just the first wife.
