Automatic existing profile lookup when adding new

Hey,

I am so tired of merging duplicate profiles, and telling people to check for an existing profile before they add a new one of the same person....

Why can't GENI have an automatic existing profile lookup into their server-park whenever someone adds a new profile. If that profile is similar: name, place, year/period, etc there should be follow-up features to handle that, instead of the current method of creating 1000's of similar profiles every day(systemwide), and causing us all a lot of unneccessary extra work.. :-)

  You do get an indicator that it is a duplicate when entered enough information, so the "problem" seem to be that peopler are ignoring it.

  Pleas also note that it is very unlikely that the system can tell that is a duplicate when you enter the profile simply because the system does not yet know the additional data you are going to add, like dates, location, spouses, children etc.
