The "shortest path" calculation often leads to the annoying result that the father of my n-great-grandfather is not my (n+1)-great grandfather, but is some other relationship through a spouse of somebody further down the tree (for example).
I would like to see an option which, when selected, would choose among multiple connected individuals the shortest "blood relationship" path. Maybe this could be a global setting, or maybe could be checked for individual profiles.

Strongly seconded! Currently even direct ancestors may not be correctly displayed as ancestors but rather through a number of marriages. "Walking the path" might do the trick but it is not terribly convenient.
With several of my DNA Matches, when I click the Relationship botton, it comes up with a path through one or more marriages. These paths would not be the source of our common DNA. It would be nice to have a setting to restrict the path to blood relatives.
Geni does have a priority on showing blood lines, so you are probably missing that, - take the DNA match as a challenge to research to finding one.
They are hiding it well.

Fully support these comments. This appears to be a long standing problem, which has never been addressed.
I'm facing the same challenge. Geni always goes for the path with the lowest number of people between myself and the person whose name I have entered. Where I have managed to walk through the steps and create a blood link, it is often much longer but it does at least show the family relationship. However, sometimes walking one step more on one path dissolves that and returns to the shorter, non-blood-line path.
Is there any way to set it so that a step from one person in my blood line to the next person in that blood line (ash show in other profiles) does not go to a path through multiple marriages and show that person as not being in the blood line (particularly annoying when they refer to ex partners or spouses)?
