OK, Geni is a good idea, but for those of us who have worked on genealogies for decades the inability to upload a GEDCOM is a non-starter. I don't want to manually type all that information that goes back to the 16th Century on some lines.
I've stopped with my great-grandparents and will probably be abandoning it there unless this feature is added at some point.

GEDCOM up to 5.5.1 is supported to import / export to Geni.com now.
Let's go further.
5.5.1 conversion loose a big amount of data or even more. It defently useless for backup, useless for data transfer.
I assume if Geni.com will be the first in integration GEDCOM X, it will bring many benefits to the community. Even restart GEDCOM X development and Geni.com will be able to lead GEDCOM X as a new standart.
This can be an additional advantage for Geni Pro by the way.
