"Return MP to Previous Curator" Option

In the curator options view on profiles, please give us an option to return a profile to its immediate past curator.  This would help for those times when we accidentally assume curatorship, are only temporarily watching profiles for someone else while they're away, or otherwise need to easily return a profile to its regular caretaker.

 

Right now, we have to 1) look up who the curator is (or was), 2) send them a message to let them know what happened, 3) wait for them to actually get the message, and 4) have them go to the profile to reset it to themselves.  It's unnecessary extra steps and time for both parties.

 

This would resolve one of the biggest curator frustrations and time-wasters.  We constantly say we wish we had this ability, so I figure it's time for a formal request.  :)  Thanks!

  This is a great suggestion.

   

  How about having the ability to mass transfer a selection of MPs to a new curator who created them?

  I would love to transfer all of the Karol created profiles, that I curate, to him for curatorship.

  There are two separate capabilities implied with this, which I would like to see as separate 'tools':

  1) Make a change to the Curator Note without change the "Curator of Record"  (similar to how one can lock fields without changing the "Curator of Record".  Should be noted in the profile's Revisions history.

  2) Being able to "request a transfer" of "Curator of Record".  Perhaps the easiest existing mechanism for this might be to have a new "queue" and a means to add either a single profile or a set of (MP) profiles found via a Search-and-select to that "queue".  The only additional field that could be useful to see on that queue (besides Profile-name, Current-Curator, most-recent-Requesting-Curator, date-request/added) could be Proposed-Curator ... which could be left blank ... or may be as a "reason field"? (e.g.: profile from a former curator).

  I'm in agreement, especially with the part about making a minor correction in the MP statement without necessarily becoming the new curator of record.  I have about a dozen curators who tell me to go ahead and keep the MP, but for anyone else, it's definitely the process outlined by Ashley in her original request. Often I don't want to keep the profile - perhaps I've corrected a spelling error, or something minor - but I am now forced to take it over. 

  Thank you, Ashley, for getting the ball rolling on this. I know we curators have discussed it many times and we all think it would be a useful tool for us.
