I've found quite a few instances where the dates are wrong. Month and day, swapped around. Very easy mistake to make as in some countries the month is written first and in others the day first. Maybe Geni can change the place where you add a date to 3 boxes, day month and year. Month could be drop down tab to make it easier. This may be a solution to the problem of swapped days and months.

  Geni did have separate input fields, but probably left this model since you could not copy/paste dates from a source when entering dates, making tree-building very slow.
  
  When you add a date there is a trick to ensure that you get it correct: Spell the month name, either in full or shortened according to your language selection. Example: "12 jan 1878" or "12 january 1878". Remember to click outside or hit Tab to activate the input.  

  As an extra check look to the right of the input field where Geni displays in long format how it understood your input.

  Thank you Bjørn, I always type out the full date. It's a pity some other users don't, this is where the problem comes in.
