If you decide to use a GEDCOM please be sure every record has a correct indication for death/living and please try to give at least an estimated date of birth (so Geni can determine the privacy for the imported records)
Please use an offline check program like MyHeritage Family Tree Builder or Genealogica Grafica to test your GEDCOM and please correct any problems before uploading to Geni.
Also please use proper case for names (you can use the setting at https://www.geni.com/account_settings/name_preferences to display last names in all caps if you like that).
Import for a branch will pause when Geni finds a possible duplicate. If you are a basic user Geni will only show you the first matching profile, for other records you will have to use an external search engine like Google. Other users may merge profiles from your GEDCOM so please monitor the GEDCOM page. Depending on the size and the number of duplicates the import can take days to months (or even years) to finish.
