DNA Match Quality

The information contained within the results when choosing an Autosomal Match on Geni needs to allow users to arrange the data.

In particular, I am examining the results closely and want to sift through the data that has come back.  However, I have over 300 results that have no type of arrangement.  In order to examine my results successfully, I must export the data which is excessively time consuming.  This makes sifting through data on your website very unpleasant.  Thus, using the information becomes very frustrating for any user because they can't arrange the results but they would like to.

I suggest doing the following:

  1. Arrange the results by the relationship level.  Put the closest level at the top.  Put parents before 5th cousins...  The user should be able to click a button to sort the result!  Instead of merely having a title bar make the title bar useful by allowing users to filter results or sort the results!
  2. Have additional uncommon search methods.  For example, arrange the results by centimorgans.  You show these levels why not have this as a sortable field?
  3. Assuming this information is known:  Identify whether the entry is male or female.  Explain to the novice the DNA information that was obtained.  If Y-DNA was obtained tell the person reviewing the webpage and let them sort the data by Y-DNA (if looking for a male).  If X-DNA was obtained do the same.  Provide every detail you can to make finding information simple...it attracts more customers!
  4. Identify additional steps that can be done to export data, import data.  For example, many users might wish to export their data for use to GEDmatch.  Arrange this with GEDmatch by having instructions on your website and on their website.  Make sure the data that GEDmatch uses provides to their users is as robust and accurate as possible.
  5. Provide details not listed.  If you have Haplogroup information why not provide it?  If you don't, I am absolutely positive another vendor will provide it.
  6. Examine all other sites and refine the interface for all users.  Frustrated customers WILL stop using your site and will spend their capital on another DNA product if you don't provide one which offers what they are looking for.
