email being used by another account

 Hi 

Our previous manager had used my email for his Geni account as he did not have an email. He is now deceased. I have taken over as the new manager. I would like to use  my own email which was used previously. How can I do that? When I typed in my Gmail, it says that email is being used by another account. My present work email will expire when I retire ... in a few months. I want to be able to use my Gmail from now on. Is that possible?

  You have obviously registered a new Geni account with your gmail address as well, but this account have no profiles.

  I can merge your profiles, but since both shows recent logins I want you to go to your account settings which you find by clicking your own name in the upper right corner of a logge-in Geni page and assign your gmail address as a secondary email. That will hopefully result in a merge request.

  Then log out and the log in on the other account using your Gmail address and approve the merge from there. When merged you can remove your old mail address at the same place

  Looks like Ashley merged him.  Faridah, you can manage your email addresses in your settings and remove your work address there.  https://www.geni.com/account_settings/email_password
