where has my uploaded GEDCOM gone?

I downloaded my GRDCOM from WikiTree then uploaded it to Geni, following the instructions, and nothing appears in my Tree. There is just the one person, myself, which is the profile I tried to attach the Tree to.

I looked for message in the Community and found one which says Geni no longer allows Uploaded Gedcoms. That thread is locked so that there can be no further updates so who knows if the position has changed since that post?  When I tried to submit a ticket to find if Gedcom still works I was faced with a form to fill out my credit card details. I was going to buy it, because of the sale, that is why I came to the site. But if it doesn't accept Gedcom then I am not keen. I don't know why my GEDCOM hasn't loaded, at all. Perhaps due to Privacy settings. Any clues on why it isn't working?

  Hi Bobbi, we see that you were able to upload your GEDCOM file. However, since your father was manually added to the tree, the import didn't continue. Not to worry, you can simply start your import from your father's profile page.

  1. Go to your father's profile page, click on the Actions button at the top right of the page, and select "Import GEDCOM." On the GEDCOM import page, you should see your father's Geni profile listed in step 1.
  2. In step 2, select the GEDCOM file you have already uploaded in the dropdown.
  3. Next in step 3, use the dropdown to select the name that corresponds to your father in the GEDCOM file.
  4. Lastly, start the import in step 4.

  Hello, I need to re-upload my gedcom but it doesnt allow me to do so, my tree has changed and evolved and I need to remove the current tree and add a new updated gedcom, could you please inform how? doI need to delete my account and create a new one? thank you very much

  You cannot use a GEDCOM import in Geni for updating an existing tree. If you can get your updated tree on a  SmartCopy supported site, you can use it to update your data on Geni. You can find SmartCopy here: https://www.geni.com/projects/SmartCopy/18783

  I dont need to update anything on geni tree because I have my tree on family search, I only use here to potentially connect with DNA holders, so I will need to delete my account then?

  Deleting your account will not remove most of your imported profiles if you have merged your profiles to the Geni World tree.

  It will depend on what other users have done with the profiles you manage. When profiles are merged (have multiple managers) the profile will stay on Geni when you undo the import or close your account.

  I do not think anything has been done because no oone does a thing at Family search I do not think anyone would do here, to be honest with you

  Geni is a very different platform from Family Search, so I would not be so sure. It will probably also depend on how many profiles you imported that are public or born more than 150 years ago.

  Thais Xavier Garcia, I see that your tree has not yet merged into the World Family Tree. Unfortunately, it appears you deleted the original GEDCOM file before undoing the import. If the file had not been deleted, you would have been able to undo the imported branches. Since you are not connected to the World Family Tree and you're the only claimed profile in your tree, we can undo the import on the backend for you, which will then allow you to import a new GEDCOM file.

  For future reference, the GEDCOM importer is not intended to be used to update or replace an existing tree. Job's suggestion to use SmartCopy is a good option to make updates to an existing tree.

  Hello, I will do it now, and once I have new updates on my gedcom I will want to remove and re-upload please. I am the one on charge of the full tree and I don't want to use smart matches, thank you very much.

  Please keep in mind that the import feature is not meant to be used to continuously import, delete, and re-import the tree. It is intended to be used to quickly upload branches that have not yet been added to Geni with the goal of connecting to the World Family Tree. You can read more about our World Family Tree here: https://www.geni.com/worldfamilytree/learn-more

  In time, it is possible for your tree to be merged into the World Family Tree if a point of overlap is found. If you want to maintain an isolated family tree under your full control, then perhaps Geni may not be the right site for you. You may be happier using a site such as MyHeritage instead, which allows you to keep an isolated family tree under your full control.

  Please also keep in mind that SmartCopy has nothing to do with Smart Matches.

  SmartCopy can be used to copy over profile data from supported sites to Geni. So if you upload your GEDCOM to an supported site like Myheritage you can use SmartCopy to update your tree on Geni.
