I split my tree by accident and now I can't get it back together. Please help?

Somehow... and I don't know how... I split my late husband off my tree instead of my ex-husband. And now my tree has my ex-husband but no husband (late) and no step-children. My late husband shows me (I think) but is not connected to my tree.
