I have made family tree here in Geni, but also on other site (Geneanet). I once imported GEDCOM file already, but later I've edited on that other site some more... and also here in Geni. So both sites have now slightly different versions of the family tree.
If I import the new updated Geneanet file to Geni... will it delete the Geni versions automatically, or can I choose which version to use? I want to be sure, that I don't start some big mess. Thanks for helping!
If you import a new GEDCOM without first undoing the first import, it will create a duplicate for each profile that is in both GEDCOM files.
Undoing an import will unmerge any profile from your import that was merged and than remove your imported profile. Unmerging is error prone when there where changes to the profile after the merge.
It would better to use SmartCopy to copy over any missing info from Geneanet to Geni (see https://www.geni.com/projects/SmartCopy/18783).
ok. sounds like not an easy task to do. I don't have energy to go through the smartCopy system, seems like a real deep-dive thing.
