Help deleting account

Many many years ago I created an account and built a tree I thought would be only for my own family. I logged in recently and it seems I made all kinds of mistakes in what I'd done, and many people are mad about it (there are messages). I didn't realize what I had done, I was quite young and just curious. How can I delete all of this and give others the power to change what they want to change?
