Erica Howton This is my single biggest time waster as a curator. It’s particularly frustrating because the data conflicts are usually very trivial. And, what’s the point of meticulous sourcing if it’s going to be re-litigated every time there’s a merge? Real differences are resolved by notifying curators on discussions.

Dan Cornett Yes ... and ...
The MP's values are what are displayed in any view; the fact that there are data conflicts is not visible unless one is looking for them -- or being 'bugged' by seeing them in the list of data conflicts.
Maybe merges into MP's shouldn't put it into the curator's queue ... but still leave them to show when one selects "Actions" button as a choice?

Erica Howton They should auto resolve so they’re not in managers merge centers either.
I cannot even load my curated data conflicts screen.
And this should be applied retroactively - a clean slate. We all diligently locked fields expecting not to have to deal with this again.
-
Sharon Doubell If the fields are locked, there should be no data conflicts. Yet, there are. Why?
-
Erica Howton To clarify my expectations.
My need is for the field locks on my curated profiles to hold and not present conflicts, for me and everyone else. This is not about my convenience, it’s about expectations for the lock.

Leanne M (Volunteer Curator - Australia) - on walkabout🇦🇺 Re “ There is something wrong with the algorithm that simply leaves the notification in one’s queue without so much as an indication that one (i.e. I) has already addressed it. If the powers respect your expertise as I do, they will put a coder on it. If they need help with the business requirements I will help in return for a lifetime membership to geni.com.”
That statement makes absolutely no sense.
What is he talking about? -

I disagree.
Curators lock fields for many other reasons than sourced and accurate.

1) reviewed the “about” citations, locked data & relationship fields
2) merged, expecting the data conflicts would automatically resolve to the locked MP values
3) as you can see, they did not. Data conflicts present for resolution, and will appear in managers & curator merge centers. But only the curator will be able to resolve.
4) my own curator data conflict merge center is over 999+ and does not load.https://www.geni.com/media/proxy?media_id=6000000221587956028&size=large

Job Waterreus It would be nice if one was able to mark a conflict as looked at without being able to solve it at that time and filter on that (so you can hide them till you have time to investigate further)

William Debnam - merge 9 Oct 2025

Discrepancies auto resolved and no data conflicts presented, unlike the example (above).
