I didn't get my question in above. I've been doing genealogy for nearly 50 years. I would like to expand my Geni tree. What is the best way now to build the tree with information I have in Ancestry and/or Family Search? There are thousands there. What are your suggestions?

I have the same question. I wanted to delete my tree and just upload a Gedcom file.
I am new here but my first impression is that this is the worse genealogy site I have every seen. Even the Mormon site of 30 years ago was better than this. Its expensive $120/year, you can't upload your research files, and its terribly slow. I think I am done with this site.
You can't upload a Gedcom simply because it would cause a wash of double profiles. Geni operates on the idea that there is one huge World Family Tree which means one person should be listed only once. Any branches with same families and prodiles meeting should be merged with the currently existing profiles. This is such a different way of building a tree compared to other genealogy and family tree sites and programmes that it often comes up.
You can use the search to try and find if your relatives are on the tree alredy - then add othwer siblings etc or edit information accordingly. This is why you simply can't remove 'your tree' (or a branch of the huge family tree, more like) because some of the people you concider your ancestors will be in others' family branches as well.
It doesn’t make any sense.
