This person was able to access our tree and make changes.
On checking his profile, he has done it on mass and there are hundreds of comments from people complaining, way back months.
Why, if they have reported it, is this person still able to do so?
There's no point in joining Geni and paying for Pro if people can somehow make changes without authorisation or being a family member. It looks like Geni is doing nothing about it.
Geni is a collaborative website where members are working on one large tree.
This means that every one can work on the public profiles entered and add their own branch if there is a family connection.
Besides this we are Geni curators who help keeping the tree tidy and connect by way of merging to the world tree. Lui Yao is a curator just doing her job .

I don't have answer, but just a friend with similar issue.
My brother Bruce keeps our family tree. I work on it, but don't know all the ins and outs of how Geni works.
I used to think that only people whose profiles were merged/accepted by private owner of a tree had the ability to make changes.
Recently, I've noticed that Geni added someone as manager who may or may not be a relative of ours, and he is making many additions to our tree, without showing verification of the additions.
So far, the changes seem accurate, but I too would like to know, why are random strangers able to change private trees?
At the very least, it is respectful and courteous to approach the manager/immediate family for permission before making a change.
For example, I would never feel free to make changes/additions to your, or anyone else's page without their express permission, even within my own family.

I am having the same problem. Someone connected a giant family tree to one person in my tree. First, it has me listed as having added the person...which I did not. I agree that persons not in your tree should be able to merge, delete, or add. Since I do not belong to Pro I cannot contact geni. Years of work all messed up!
Hi - everybody - exactly the same problem - and funny enough involved the same person - Lui - yao and named as "curator" - any idea how we can stop this person?
I have no problem with someone adding profiles when they have definitive information to back it up. In my case, the profile (and subsequent tree) made no sense..looks like the "curator" (or whoever it was) just matched a name and birth date.
I am having the exact same problem, several people completely unknown to me are making changes to my family members profiles without requesting my permission, and have added probably thousands of names to my tree without any verification and permission from me. I created my tree and am the manager of it and it has lost all validity in my opinion. I understand that Geni is trying to open things up to relatives to add to a tree, but it should be done with the tree manager's permission and not just randomly by whoever feels like it. I also don't have "pro" status so can't discuss this directly with Geni. Very frustrating.
