Notes for RALPH N. BAUGHER:
[Warren4.ftw]
Ralph Baugher was a chemist at SUCO-Standard Ultramarine Co. in Huntington, W. Va. Some of his bluing formulas are still in use today. He had invented other formulae that he did not live to patent,. The company (later Holland-Suco, possibly out of Canada) mistakenly accused him of stealing the formulae when he determined to begin his own business in conjunction with a Colonel Douriff (?) from France. But Mary Pennypacker noted that these were different formulae he had developed prior to his work with SUCO and that she had a copy of the instructions for mixing them at one time. In any event, Mr. Baugher died before he could further develop and market them. Years of contact with the fine blue powder must have contributed greatly to his severely damaged lungs. He died of pneumonia.

Elizabeth was written as Lizzie in the family Bible. She was my great-grandmother and I never heard her called Lizzie. Elizabeth died in a rest home outside of Huntington, West Virginia, (Culloden or Milton), West Virginia in 1967. She was originally married 4 May 1899. She had three husbands altogether. She married Ralph N.Baugher April 6, 1912. She married Harry L. Miller November 8 1924. Geraldine Baugher was Ralp and Elizabeth Baugher's adopted daughter. Ralph was step=father to Tom and Clarence Winfrey.
In a letter she wrote July 21, 1953 to the Bureau of Vital Statistics, Louisville, Ky. on Star Furniture Company stationery, she mentioned that she was born May 6, 1885 in a small place called Glen's Fork, Kentucky which she thought was later called Glenville near Columbia. "My father moved from there to Jamestown, Ky. when I was a very small child. I am the eldest one of the family living and I do not know anyone down there where I might get any information from." She was requesting information on obtaining a birth certificate. Her address was 720 6th Avenue, Huntington, W. Va. She also mentioned that she was told that Dr. Strange delivered her at birth to John W. and Cleo Warren.
She was either employed at the time by Star Furniture, 839 Fourth Avenue, Huntington, W. Va., or seeking employment there. She worked there for several years. The letter was stamped with "Received Jul 23, 1953 NO FEE".
Her name at this time was Elizabeth Warren Winfrey Baugher Miller. She divorced J. P. Winfrey, then married Ralph N. Baugher April 6, 1912 per Bible record. After he died, she married a Mr. Miller who died before I was born in 1945. (Carole Frederick Frazier Marcum)
Lizzie always went by Elizabeth when I was a child and until her death, both spoken and written as Elizabeth. Bible record only shows it as Lizzie.
