Relationship calculator suddenly shifts to longer path

While doing a check on a relationship path that seemed to long I noticed that adding 1 more step to a 10 relations path suddenly changed it to an 28 relations path. Apart from the 1 person change the end points where still the same,  - but instead of taking the shortest path it now calculated a much longer path involving in-laws and moving back and forth between generations.
