R. Voelker I don’t even know these people, who are they to change & add any names & dates without contacting me!?!?
I feel very uncomfortable & annoyed that this is allowed. I add on what information I choose to add, if I am not sure I don’t want it added!
Where are they digging this stuff up, they even changed one of my husbands lines!! Stop messing things up!
I am seriously thinking of deleting “my” tree!
AND why doesn’t GENI have a direct phone number to customer service?

Gerald Christopher Stovall I agree with R. Voelker. I wouldn't have started my tree if I knew someone could change it without my OK.
And now my arrows disappeared and I can't add to my tree like I could before.
This is not user friendly.

Jim Henderson Ah, but this is the benefit of a cooperative tree. At Geni, we are cooperating to build a single tree for the whole world. We don't talk about "my tree" or "your tree", but "our tree". This gives us peer review, like with scientific research papers, and other members have other information to add to profiles in "our tree".
And when you see a blue "tree merge" flag on a profile, you can check the relatives of the profile that you added with those of the other profile, and if they match, you can request a merge of the two profiles. If a manager of the other profile agrees with you, he/she will complete the merge. Then you gain access to all the work done by the administrators of the other branch, and they gain access to all your work. This happened with my g-grandmother, Adelaide Sturt Henderson (Morphett) (https://www.geni.com/people/Adelaide-Henderson/6000000028041483164) I gained access to all the work done by the Morphetts and they gained access to my work with the Hendersons.
If you upload documents and "cite" them to support facts, then other managers will know that you have found the correct information, and won't change it. You can read how to upload documents here:

https://www.geni.com/projects/User-Tutorial-Basic-Techniques-3-Profile-Page-Tabs/38053#Citing-documents-to-support-factsIf someone persists in changing what you can prove is right, you can ask a Curator to make a profile a "Master Profile" and lock some of the fields. Just
- open the profile where the problem is in your browser
- click in the address bar of your browser to select the whole address
- hold down the Ctrl key (or Command on a Mac) and type C to Copy
- go to https://www.geni.com/discussions/192543 ,
- click the largest page number in the list (just to the left of "Next")
- scroll down to the text box and type in your request and
- hold down Ctrl (or Command) and tap V to funnel the address of the profile in there.
- Click Post Reply, and a curator will help you.
I hope you will come to appreciate the benefits of working at Geni, where each person's profile exists only once, and it is much easier to get the details about the person correct than at "individual-tree" sites like Ancestry and MyHeritage.
