I was adopted by my step-father and if I put him as my adoptive father, it'll mess up because I have my biological father's family tree on there too. Should I just change my last name to my adoptive last name or do you have a better idea? Thank you!

You can have in Geni an adopted and a biological father.
It is not needed in this case to change your name to the same name of your adoptive father.
