When I set up my tree about 13 years ago, I had complete control over editing anything in my tree. I subsequently added others to help me fill in the gaps. I lost interest for quite a number of years, after finding that no-one was adding much. However, I've gone back now and found that the tree has blossomed with many relatives contributing. But I can't seem to find a way to edit anything!!! My mother recently died and I need to add her death date. There are also prompts for birth surnames for both her and one of my daughters. I can see them in the tree, but can't find a way to edit or add any of these details. (I still have a basic membership, and won't likely upgrade, if that's a factor. Surely, since it's my creation, I can still edit it.

It's likely you are unable to edit the profiles for your mother and daughters because they have claimed their accounts with their email addresses. Your daughters will need to log in to their accounts to update their surnames on their profile.
As for your mother, we're sorry to hear about your loss. Please report her profile as Deceased via the Actions button and our customer service team will be able to assist with unclaiming her account so that you may edit it.
