I just started with Geni a couple of days ago. I was looking to update some of my tree and saw this (picture attached) to the people that I want to work with. What should I do. This has been on here for a couple of days.
"A GEDCOM import is in progress for this profile. You should not add onto this profile until import is finished" There is a "SKIP" if I don't want to finish this import.
There are family members associated with these profile that I don't wan to have to reenter.
Probably the importer found some duplicated and paused the import on those branches. You should check the GEDCOM page (https://www.geni.com/gedcom) to see if there are any issues.
If the importer found a duplicate it is likely that branch is already on Geni so it gives you the possibility to skip importing that branch.
You can continue the import but that will create duplicates that have to be merged and will need conflict resolution. That will be difficult if you are a basic user, because if that is the case you will find that Geni's search screen will only allow you find your own profiles and profiles managed by your collaborators. You will have to use an external search to find other profiles on Geni and an external search will only find public profiles.
This means most of the merging and conflict resolution will have to be done by others and they may not be so happy about that if that does not add any significant information.
Also remember that if the GEDCOM has unconnected branches you will have to specify a specific target profile for each unconnected branch (do NOT upload your GEDCOM multiple times)
