Today, from 10:00 am until past 1:00 pm I was a happy searcher; found something interesting I want to share with my nephew!
Now it is 5:00 pm - trying to get back to where I was earlier and the system absolutely won't let me - just keeps giving me the "upgrade" screen.
Not doing an "advanced search" - just a simple search like I did all morning !!!!
Very frustrating ... what up with that?
Hi Donna, it sounds like you are trying to use our search feature. Note that full access to our search engine is a paid feature. Basic members may only access profiles they manage or collaborate on in the search results for free. These profiles are indicated with a green check mark.
If you are not ready to upgrade to Pro, you can do a search for public profiles on Google with the name + geni.com . You will then be able to access the profile for free through there.
I'm wondering why I should continue add people to the hundreds already uploaded, when Geni/MyHeritage use this for profit but deny me access of communicating with others unless I upgrade. You've already profited from my generosity but now you want more without sharing. That's called corporate greed. I'm not sure why I should pay $119/yr now LOLOL Maybe you should be paying me future uploads.
Hi Edwin, you do not have to upgrade to communicate with other Geni users. Anyone can create a public discussion or send a person a private message for free.
If you are receiving an offer to upgrade, then it's likely you are trying to access a paid feature on the site. Were you trying to go through the Geni's search engine to contact someone? If so, then you may want to follow our suggestion above and use Google to do a search for public profiles.

using site:geni.com instead of +geni.com might work better (there should not be a space between the : and geni or between the + and geni)
Google can only find public profiles, so not user profiles. You can start another session with Geni and not logon on that session. That session you can use to search with the Geni search (use the link to the found profile in the other session where you are logged on to Geni)
