Heather for Betty Schanberg My GENI account: Heather for Betty Schanberg was created for an unrelated friend. I used my own email address.
Now I would like to make a new GENI Family Tree for my own relatives. Do I need a different email address and a new account? -
Geni Support Team Hi Heather, we can move your email address on the profile to a separate "Unknown" profile that you can then edit with your own information and start building the tree for your family. Doing it this way means you will still manage the profile of "Heather for Betty Schanberg" and other profiles you that had previously added.
Please confirm if you would like us to move forward with that approach.

Heather for Betty Schanberg Thank you for your prompt response.
Yes, I would like to move forward with your suggestion but need you to explain how that will work. Will I still be able to use my email address and password to enter my account and work on either tree? -
Geni Support Team Yes, you will still be able to use your email address and password to enter your account and you will still be able to manage/edit the profiles you have entered in that tree. Any public profiles will still be viewable to you as well.
You mentioned that a friend had invited you to this tree. If she intended to give you access to private profiles, then you will need to ask her to send a Family Group request so that you can still have access to the private profiles that you do not manage.

Geni Support Team We have moved your account to a single node named “Unknown.” You can now log in to your account with your same email address and password to update the profile with your own information. Here is the link to Betty Schanberg’s profile.
You will also receive an email with a link to edit your new profile and a link to Betty’s profile.
