Apparently some time in the past I must have joined Geni and created some profiles, though I do not remember doing so.

Bottom line is, I'm now here and wanting to post things but I find profiles for my family members that are wrong or missing info and they are managed by someone other than myself and I don't seem to be able to make corrections.

For example, someone who I've never heard of manages my own mother's profile.

1.) How does this happen?

2.) How do we go about fixing it.

  Hi Jerry, we see that your mother's profile was first added by David Halse Caradus. After he passed away and his account was closed, management of his profiles was transferred to another relative.

  You may add yourself as a manager of your mother's profile. Click the Actions button on your mother's profile page and select "Manager Options." Then click the "Manage this Profile" button. You can also remove the other manager by clicking on the x next to his name. Please see our FAQ https://help.geni.com/hc/en-us/articles/229704067-What-are-my-management-options-

  While looking into this, we located another profile for your mother that is managed by what appears to be a duplicate account for you https://www.geni.com/people/Peggy-Ann-Van-Woert-Rhodes/6000000159728287822 .   I had the same issue, almost all my family tree members was created by myself but now I can not manage them, some of them has passed away and neither myself nor their sons/daughter can modify, How I can solve this

  Settings for English.. it changed to French.. I want English

  If your relative claimed their account and has since passed away, then you may report their profile as Deceased via the Actions button on their profile page. Click "Actions," select "Report," and choose "Deceased" from the dropdown.

  Once our customer service team reviews the report, they can unclaim the account so that you may update their profile to reflect their passing.   Gary, your issue is unrelated to this thread. You can quickly change your language settings back to English either in your account settings here https://www.geni.com/account_settings/localization or by scrolling to the very bottom of the screen and click "English."
