I have repeatedly tried to update my Geni-dna, by following the advice from FTDNA and Geni, inclusive some well meant guidance from helpers. I just follow the instructions, but every time I end up with my fathers Y-dna included in my account. Hope that someone could write up a foolproof path to get this right? Not easy to see where I go wrong, maybe any of you have solved the same challenge?

Hi Lise, if you have accidentally linked your father's FTDNA results to your profile, the easiest way to fix this is to delete the linked DNA on your profile and then link your own results to your profile. Before re-linking your results, it's best to log out of Family Tree DNA to ensure that you will link the correct kit.

Hi, Geni Support Team, I have not «accidentally» linked to my fathers result. But thank you for the attempt to help me.
I follow these 16 steps; please check where I’m doing the wrong choice:
1. I log on to my account on Geni
2. I choose «my profile»
3. I choose DNA
4. I choose «Instructions for updating Family Tree DNA results
5. In a new window, I log on to my own FTDNA-account (not my fathers)
6. I choose Partner Services (Geni)
7. I choose Disconnect
8. I confirm, Yes, disconnect
9. I write this in the box (Why do you want too disconnect:) I want to update my DNA results
10. Status: Not connected
11. I will re-connect
12. I choose «Connect Now»
13. I choose «My own DNA»
14. I accept the terms and conditions
15. Confirm
16. I check my profile again, and I STILL HAVE MY FATHERS DNA

Hi Lise, when you choose Disconnect, are the results removed from your Geni profile? If not, try clicking the link to remove the DNA results from Geni instead. Once they have been removed, try connecting your FTDNA results again.
Hi, I just followed your advise, thank you very much, I would never have found this by myself. I just suspected a bug in the system. Now I’m very pleased, the correct haplogroup are registered to the profile.
