I thought I was losing it! As many of my relationships also come back as in-law ect when on ancestry they appear as Great Grandparents many times over as have found GG parents from 1300’s. After reading previous posts I’m glad it’s just not me, however some posts quite dated so it still is coming up incorrect present day!

Geni Support Team Hi Janet, Geni will calculate the closest blood and in-law path to you/focus person, if either can be found.
Otherwise, you may be seeing the one which was cached or calculated first. Paths can be refreshed one week after the initial path is found. If changes have been made to the tree and you would like to recalculate the relationship path sooner, please contact a curator.
Also, please keep in mind that pending merges and recent merges can also prevent the closest relationship from calculating. If you are only receiving an in-law path when you know a blood path exists, then you may want to walk that blood path in the tree to see if there are any merges that need to be completed or if all the profiles in the path have been added to the tree.
