The consistency checker (released November 2019) constantly monitors profiles you may be interested in for common errors or other conditions that may indicate a mistake in the tree. Inconsistencies are presented on the profile and in the tree view, as well as grouped together under the Research menu. They can also be viewed for any relationship path that Geni displays.

There are 28 types of inconsistencies that are checked:
Ancestor loop detected
Birth date is after death date
Birth surname is missing
Birth surname looks like married name
Child was born after parent died
Child is older than parent
Children have different last names
Died too old
Event occurred after death date
Event occurred before birth date
Event has a date in the future
Location looks like date format
Married too young
Parent too old to have a child
Parent too young to have a child
Person has no relatives
Person is too old to be alive
Place of death looks like cause of death
Profile data conflicts with source
Sibling birth dates are too close
Siblings share the same first name
Spouses have a large age difference
Suffix entered is unrecognized
Suffix in name
Tagged in photo before birth date
Title detected in name field
Title entered is unrecognized
Year entered only has two digits
