Search functions are totally mixed today. Nothing works well.
Totally wrong surnames even are shown in Surname projects.

Job Waterreus Geni is working on the problem.
Please use Google to search for public profiles while the problem lasts (add site geni.com to the search string)

Cristina Velázquez Vidal It has been a few hours already since the search engine is down... Any news about when we will be able to continue working on the trees?
Note: thanks about the tip for searches in Google, but it is not very useful when searching among thousands of profiles.

Job Waterreus Why would using Google be a problem? (when searching for public profiles)
-
Cristina Velázquez Vidal No idea. But I tried to locale some public profiles that i manage and they did not come out in the results. As you suggested, i used site: geni.com
Any updates in the solving of the problems with Geni?
Thank you for your support

Job Waterreus No you should use your own search terms (like the name(s) and date(s) and add site:geni.com to your search terms (no space between the : and geni.com)
Sorry, I have not information on the progress (I'm just a Geni user)

Cristina Velázquez Vidal Thanks Job. I believe i am following your instructions correctly, but I get too many results (even when looking for not so common names and surnames). But i sincerely appreciate your advice ;)
And sorry for having mistaken you for a staff member... you sounded quite professional ;)

Cristina Velázquez Vidal Working fine so far, thanks a lot!

Job Waterreus What changes in the search when you use the filter Partial family matching?
When I use a quick search for Behr (all filters on default values) I'm getting 5000 results, but when I use Partial family matching I'm getting zero results.

Job Waterreus When I search for AKA Jan (no other selection or filter) I find https://www.geni.com/people/no-name/6000000000461461477
For other profiles in the search result "Jan" is displayed, but not for this profile. Is there a Jan in the AKA field? (maybe in another language?)

Job Waterreus When searching for suffix Sr for only private profiles I find some no name profiles like https://www.geni.com/people/Sr/306386417780008287 (which has a Sr in the URL but does not show a Sr in the name on the profile page)

Job Waterreus Because of status completed, I raised a ticket for it.
